About Us
Stop-mo Puppet Co. is a collaborative fabrication studio specializing in character fabrication and technical problem-solving for stop-motion animation. We bring feature film-level techniques and materials innovation to projects of all scales, working closely with clients to solve complex fabrication challenges.
Creative Director
Stop-mo Puppet Co. is led by Brenda Baumgarten, who brings 25 years of stop-motion fabrication experience to every project.
She spent eight years at world-renowned Laika Studios as Character Project Manager and Silicone Asset Technician, contributing to multiple feature films including Missing Link (2019) and the upcoming Wildwood (Fall 2026). She played a major role in revolutionizing the studio’s puppet-building process through innovative fabrication techniques and was part of the team that won a 2019 VES Award for Best Animated Character in an Animated Feature Film.
Prior to Laika, she served as Character Fabrication Supervisor on The Little Prince (2015), which grossed nearly $100 million worldwide and celebrated a handcrafted aesthetic with its paper-based puppets, demonstrating the creative possibilities of unconventional materials.
She also operated a successful stop-motion studio in Toronto, Canada, building puppets for independent filmmakers and commercial projects—experience that informs our commitment to making feature film-quality fabrication accessible to projects of all budgets.
